    I burned that letter, for curiosity's sake. I'm certain no one could deny that knowledge is power, and accomplishing anything does not stem from ignorance. It is out a Slytherin uses the knowledge they gain that separates us from Ravenclaws However, before everyone frets and gets in a panic, I think we could do well to realise that it might not be the most conducive of ideas to blindly believe something written anonymously on a piece of parchment. Who is to say that they - whoever they are - have the truth?

    Fact is, people can always use things to support whatever statement they wish it to support - getting so worked up at these letters is just as silly as getting worked up with the Daily Prophet. It should all be taken with a grain of salt, so to speak. Don't believe something just because someone tells you to.

    It's rather amazing at how quiet things are around here when no one is spreading rumours. I'm not sure if that makes me miss them or not, but I find our journals seem rather dull lately - perhaps its because nearly everyone is SICK.

    I'm also not sure what I take of our school tightening policies around here. First its hair colour then its.. who knows what. When rules start being imposed and enforced it isn't a good sign. Not that I believe we should be running around looking classless with unnaturally coloured hair, however, I don't particularly fancy the idea of going to a school that will rule with that proverbial iron fist.

    Also I think its about time I finally admit I'm absolutely crazy about Matty - no, I can't just - well I could but what if she still-

    I harbour no ill will towards Miss Longbottom, and I would appreciate that those who are speaking out on the behalf of of my name would refrain. I happen to hope that she and Mr. Bones have a happy life together, and quite frankly, I think it is safe to say that this is a blessing for both of us. Pregnancy or not, neither of us would have been truly happy if we had gone through with our parents wishes and married.

    My the Holidays are fast approaching. I don't even want to think about our exams next week. So far I've managed to avoid the mistletoe, though, I won't complain if I'm caught beneath it with a particular bird or two.

    The problem with so much snow is that now I am unmotivated to continue with my course work and studies for the rest of the term. It feels too much like Christmas, like the Hols, and how can we be expected to concentrate.

    So much for a new History Professor Has anyone cared to ask Professor Binns how he feels about his own death? Or the fact that he is a ghost and continuing on teaching? It seems there are many people getting worked up one way or the other, but no one has mentioned what the man, or rather Ghost, wants. Maybe he doesn't want us to "mourn"? Maybe he does? Maybe he doesn't want this to be a big to do at all?

    It is interesting.. Typically, when we mourn the death of an individual, we mourn them because they are no longer here. Professor Binns is apparently dead, and yet.. still here, right? So do we mourn? Do we not? Do we go up and say "I'm sorry you died?
    or do we say "Congratulations at becoming a Ghost"?

    Anyone care to go talk to Professor Binns for us and get HIS opinion on these matters?

    Perhaps Binns will be replaced with a professor that is actually interesting. One could hope. Not that it would change the subject from being such an unimportant one, but if a Professor was actually interesting there might be students who actually learn from that course.

    R.I.P Binnsy. I'm sure your life was long and full and all that rot. I never realized detention could be so entertaining.

    Enid, darling, is your mother always so.. abrasive? Howlers are so uncouth and embarassing. Is this what I look foward to in a mother-in-law

    I will be seeing most of you in detention, it so seems. Perhaps the Headmaster should realise these assignments of his are uninteresting and inconsequential to our futures that we should all seem to skip them.

    First things first, I apologise that we are now 18 days into the school year and I am finally beginning to participate in this school project. I could give you all my reasons and justifications for being so inexcusably late, however, they are all irrelevant. As a student of high standards it is beneath me to let such an assignment be left unattended, and I fully plan on remedying that mistake. A House mate has informed me that we are to write about the topic of respect. Interesting topic choice, Headmaster. I will give it my sincerest thoughts before I begin to write the essay, as anything less than sincere would, in fact, be disrespectful.

    Dorcas, do you have any free time to practise for the demonstration during the U.S.O. Student Faire? We shouldn't be unprepared, after all, if we want to attract new members to the Dueling club.

    Does anyone else feel slightly awkward writing in a journal as if you are speaking to someone? And expecting them to respond? Clearly these things work, however, it still seems awkward. Perhaps, thought, it is just me.

    Blah blah fucking blah. I can't believe I waste my time being civil to a bunch of bloody morons. I was reading over some of the going ons in these journals and it is absolutely appalling. Never before has our Headmasters lack of standards been more evident. We might as well be allowing muggles to attend, since the whole place seems filled with monkeys as it is. I take comfort in knowing that it is my last year here, the little comfort that may be.
